Art Therapy
Landscape paintings became a form of therapy for me during a period of feeling stuck and uninspired. I was in college at the time and was struggling emotionally due to high levels of stress and chronic back pain from an injury. To cope, I turned to nature and art. Hikes by morning and paint sessions by night.
Ya cant go wrong with nature, even in its imperfections I find beauty. Although my paintings are inspired by my drives through the Santa Barbara mountains, every piece is unique and unlike any view in town. I enjoy painting free from my imagination because the possibilities are endless.
My nature paintings represent the journey of life. The process is scary, but the fear of making mistakes lessens as you allow more faith into your flow and trust yourself. Eventually you find that the "mistakes" you thought would ruin your art, contributed to a masterpiece.
Today I share this healing tool by hosting paint alongs. Utilizing my experience as an educator and guide, I walk students of all skill levels through this sometimes challenging, but rewarding journey.
